Pole confidence Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Am I too old, too young, too fat, too shy?
  2. Can I try before I buy?
  3. What happens in a pole dancing class?
  4. What do I wear?
  5. Do I need to bring anything?
  6. What happens if I need to cancel?
  7. Where can I park?
  8. Any other questions

It is understandable that you may feel nervous before your first lesson.  This information sheet is here to put your mind at rest and to answer some of the common questions many people asking before their first pole dancing lesson.  Please drop me a line if you have a question which isn’t covered here.

V. important! Please do not wear any moisturiser, oils or lotions when you are pole dancing.  Oils can make the pole slippery and potentially dangerous as it prevents you from gripping the pole.

As I mentioned before, it is very natural to feel nervous or shy before your first lesson.  It is completely natural to feel this way.  However, pole fitness and pole dancing is a fantastic way to increase your confidence (hence the company name!).  It certainly worked for me!

1. Am I too old, too young, too fat, too shy? Top of Page
We recommend Pole Confidence lessons for students over 16 years old.  There is definitely no upper age limit!  Pole fitness is enjoyed by ladies of all shapes and sizes, indeed the lessons have been designed to help women appreciate their bodies whatever their size and to grow in confidence.  Exercises can be adapted to suit everyone; the main thing is to have fun and to come with an open attitude!

2. Can I try before I buy? Top of Page
If you would like to give pole dancing a try before you book on to a course, why not book a taster session.  Please email jo@poleconfidence.com

3. What happens in a pole dancing class?Top of Page
Your pole fitness and dance class is 1 hour long, which includes full warm up and cool down sections.  You will learn a large variety of pole moves, spins & floor work.  You will learn how you can use a pole for a full range of Muscle Strength & Endurance exercises and get the chance to put together your own dance routines.

Your first lesson will start with a chat with your instructor so that she can find out about your specific objectives as well as any injuries or illnesses which may affect your pole lessons. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

After a full aerobic warm up, your instructor will show you some basic pole dance moves and linking sequences (transitional moves) building towards more advanced moves and developing and perfecting your own customised pole routines.  Lessons finish with a full cool down and stretching session.

4. What do I wear? Top of Page
This is a very common question.  Trainers are ideal for the warm up and cool down parts of the workout.  Many love to dance in high heels although you can also dance in bare feet or trainers.  The best thing to wears is a top which is easy to move in such as a sports top or t shirt.  Ideally legs will be bare so you can wear comfortable shorts, a short skirt or hot pants.  However, trackie bottoms or leggings are fine if you are able to roll them up. Please avoid wearing jewellery which can scratch the pole. Please note that there is no nudity or stripping in Pole Confidence pole dancing classes!

5. Do I need to bring anything? Top of Page
You might want to bring a drink in a spill free bottle. However, water will be provided.

6. What happens if I need to cancel? Top of Page
We understand that sometimes you need to cancel or reschedule your lesson due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances.  We would be grateful for as much notice as possible.  Cancellations less than 24 hours notice are subject to a 100% charge as someone else could have filled your spot.  Please also note that we are unable to extend the time of your class if you arrive late.

7.Where can I park? Top of Page

There is plenty of free on street parking near Pole Confidence.

8. Any other questions? Top of Page
